Actor Yashma Gill criticises attack on pregnant woman, calls for education reform

Actor Yashma Gill has called for reforms in Pakistan's education system to address violence against women, particularly incidents driven by prenatal sex determination. Her comments, reported by Dawn's Images, were made on Instagram following a news report from Gujranwala.

Gill referenced an alleged assault on a pregnant woman by her husband after an ultrasound reportedly revealed they were expecting a daughter. She stated that biological sex is determined by the father's sperm, not the mother, and argued that basic manners, empathy, and morality should be mandatory in school curriculums.

The actor suggested that correctly interpreted religious teachings could also help nurture compassion. According to the report, Gujranwala police have arrested a man in connection with the incident, which allegedly occurred on September 27.
