Israeli settlers attack West Bank village, injuring security forces

More than 100 Israeli settlers attacked the Palestinian village of Jalud in the occupied West Bank, according to a report by Dawn. The Israeli military said the settlers blocked roads, set tyres on fire, and threw rocks at security forces.

During the clashes, three Israeli Border Police officers were lightly injured and a security forces vehicle was damaged. One person was arrested and two minors were taken in for questioning.

The raid drew rare condemnation from the Israeli government. It occurred as Israeli forces were attempting to accompany a Palestinian family back to their home after they had been displaced by settler attacks two months earlier.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had downplayed settler violence in a recent address to the United Nations, amid mounting international criticism. The attack on Jalud was one of two on West Bank villages reported on Tuesday.
