Pakistan assembled 18.66 million mobile phones in first eight months of 2026

According to official data reported by Business Recorder, Pakistan assembled 18.66 million mobile handsets locally in the first eight months of calendar year 2026. In the same period, only 2.74 million handsets were imported commercially.

The data shows a significant move towards domestic assembly. In the full calendar year 2025, local plants assembled 30.21 million handsets versus 2.37 million imported. Of the 18.66 million assembled so far in 2026, 8 million were smartphones and 11 million were 2G devices.

Separately, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics data shows mobile phone imports fell 8.85% in dollar terms during the first two months of the current fiscal year (July-August 2026), dropping to $274.129 million.
