Punjab launches 33 mobile police stations offering FIR registration

Dawn reports that the Punjab government has inaugurated 33 mobile police stations. The units will offer 14 services, including the registration of First Information Reports (FIRs) and online e-tagging for tracking complaints.

The provincial Home Secretary said six of the mobile units will be dedicated to addressing issues faced by women. Each station will be staffed by a sub-inspector, field supervisor, senior station assistant, and male and female constables.

Other available services include tenant registration, employee verification, criminal record checks, and reporting lost documents like national identity cards. Station house officers and beat officers are to oversee operations in the field according to standard procedures.
