Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio to undergo shin surgery

Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio is to undergo surgery on a stress fracture in his right shin, the club reported, according to Business Recorder. The operation is scheduled for Thursday.

Spanish media estimates a recovery period of two to four months if the procedure goes to plan. Asencio has missed Real's first five match-day squads this season due to the persistent injury.

The 23-year-old made 34 appearances last season but had lost his starting place in the final three months of the campaign.
