Security forces kill three militants in North Waziristan operation

Security forces killed three terrorists in an intelligence-based operation in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, according to state broadcaster PTV. The operation reportedly targeted hideouts of the group termed 'Fitna al Khawarij', a state designation for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered from those killed, security sources told the media. Forces also thwarted an attempt by terrorists to intercept a ration truck near Mir Ali Bazaar.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have lauded the security forces for the operation, with the president vowing the campaign against terrorism would continue. The operation is part of the wider 'Azm-e-Istehkam' counter-terrorism campaign.
