Appeal filed in FCC against registrar's objections to children's social media petition

Lawyers have appealed to the Federal Constitutional Court against its registrar's objections to a constitutional petition that seeks to restrict social media access for children under 16, Dawn reported.

The appellants, Supreme Court lawyers Sheraz Zaka and Moin Akhtar, argue that the registrar's office cannot decide on the petition's maintainability through an administrative order. They contend such issues must be decided judicially by the court itself.

The original petition, dismissed by the registrar, sought directions for legislative and regulatory measures to limit children's access to social media. The lawyers say the matter involves fundamental rights and issues of public importance.
