ATC drops contempt proceedings against Adiala jail officials

An anti-terrorism court has dropped its contempt proceedings against several Rawalpindi Adiala Jail officials. According to Geo News, the action came after officials allowed human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari and her husband, fellow lawyer Hadi Ali Chattha, to sign their powers of attorney.

The court deemed the signing of the documents as the first step towards achieving justice in the matter. Jail authorities had reportedly complied with standard operating procedures concerning the power-of-attorney process.

The contempt proceedings were related to a court hearing that took place in Islamabad.
