US and Iran exchange sharp words as talks on Strait of Hormuz continue

As discussions over the Strait of Hormuz continue, the US and Iran have exchanged sharp rhetoric. According to Dawn, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran expects a formal answer on Tuesday to its proposal to reopen the troubled waterway. Qatari mediators are trying to find common ground.

Iranian parliament speaker Ghalibaf warned of fresh strikes if provoked, while the IRGC urged American voters to oppose war. President Donald Trump stated his confidence the Middle East war will end soon.

Separately, the British maritime agency reported an "unknown projectile" struck a ship in the strait, causing a fire that was later extinguished.

On the sidelines, oil prices fell after Saudi Arabia resumed loading at Yanbu port and the US offered 40 million barrels from its strategic reserve. Turkiye seized an Iranian plane, and Iraqi airlines were granted an exemption to ferry pilgrims to Najaf.
