Ahsan Bhoon serves Rs5bn defamation notice on Capt Safdar

A member of the Pakistan Bar Council, Ahsan Bhoon, has served a Rs5 billion defamation notice on retired Capt Muhammad Safdar, according to a report by Dawn. The notice demands an unconditional public apology and a retraction of the allegation that Bhoon's LLB degree is fake.

The notice states that Safdar made the allegation publicly outside the Supreme Court around September 23. It says the remarks were subsequently circulated on social media and repeated by Safdar in further media appearances without any supporting proof.

The legal notice, sent via Kilam Law-Barristers & Legal Consultants, details Bhoon's career, including his enrolment as an advocate in various courts and his service as a judge of the Lahore High Court. It also notes his recent election to the Pakistan Bar Council.
