Modi and Trump discuss trade and defence as Indian minister visits US

According to the Business Recorder, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation in which they reviewed bilateral cooperation. They discussed trade, defence, energy and critical technologies.

The leaders committed to advancing the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and agreed to maintain close engagement. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments.

This comes as India’s Trade Minister, Piyush Goyal, visits the United States for talks on a proposed bilateral trade agreement and an interim arrangement. The visit is part of efforts to advance what New Delhi calls a balanced and mutually beneficial deal.
